"Cut Down" Rack Setup for an Open Mic Night
Quote from Sam Russell on November 30, 2021, 12:02Last week I took some of my local guitar students to an open mic night, and a few of us played a couple of songs.
I'd been to the pub where this took place before, and knew that the gear they had was great.... but couldn't really handle a rock/metal lead guitar tone, which I wanted for the song I was going to do (an instrumental song I recently finished writing / learning).
Now my full setup is a rack into a cabinet, which was a bit overkill for playing one song at an open mic!
So I rewired part of my rack in the following way:
JMP1 [FX Out] > G Major > BBE > JMP1 [FX In]
And used the emulated out on the JMP1 to go straight into a line input on the mixing desk.
The tone wasn't as good as my full setup, but, it was pretty good, and did the job.
I do love rack amplifiers!
